مُّطَاعٖ ثَمَّ أَمِينٖ
obéi, là-haut, et digne de confiance
Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs — Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
((One) to be obeyed) i.e. Gabriel is obeyed in Heaven: the angels obey him, (and trustworthy) in conveying the message to the prophets;
وَمَا صَاحِبُكُم بِمَجۡنُونٖ
Votre compagnon (Muhammad) n'est nullement fou
Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs — Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
(And your comrade) your Prophet Muhammad, O Quraysh (is not mad) bewitched as you claim.
وَلَقَدۡ رَءَاهُ بِٱلۡأُفُقِ ٱلۡمُبِينِ
il l'a effectivement vu (Gabriel), au clair horizon
Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs — Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
(Surely he beheld him) Muhammad (s)aw Gabriel (on the clear horizon) on the high setting of the sun.
وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى ٱلۡغَيۡبِ بِضَنِينٖ
et il ne garde pas avarement pour lui-même ce qui lui a été révélé
Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs — Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
(And he is not) i.e. Muhammad (pbuh) (avid of the Unseen) he is accused with regard to the revelation; and it is also said this means: he is not avaricious.
وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوۡلِ شَيۡطَٰنٖ رَّجِيمٖ
Et ceci [le Coran] n'est point la parole d'un diable banni
Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs — Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
(Nor is this) i.e. the Qur'an (the utterance of a devil worthy to be stoned) the utterance of an accursed, rebellious devil whose name is al-Marmi.
