ثُمَّ لَقَطَعۡنَا مِنۡهُ ٱلۡوَتِينَ
ensuite, Nous lui aurions tranché l'aorte
Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs — Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
(And then severed his life artery) the life artery of Muhammad (pbuh)
فَمَا مِنكُم مِّنۡ أَحَدٍ عَنۡهُ حَٰجِزِينَ
Et nul d'entre vous n'aurait pu lui servir de rempart
Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs — Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
(And not one of you could have held Us off from him) He says: no one of you could have held Us back from Muhammad (pbuh).
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَذۡكِرَةٞ لِّلۡمُتَّقِينَ
C'est en vérité un rappel pour les pieux
Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs — Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
(And lo! It) i.e. the Qur'an (is a warrant) a reminder (unto those who ward off (evil)) disbelief, idolatry and indecencies.
وَإِنَّا لَنَعۡلَمُ أَنَّ مِنكُم مُّكَذِّبِينَ
Et Nous savons qu'il y a parmi vous qui le traitent de menteur
Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs — Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
(And lo! We know that some among you will deny (it)) We know that some among you disbelieve in the Qur'an while others believe in it.
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَحَسۡرَةٌ عَلَى ٱلۡكَٰفِرِينَ
mais en vérité, ce sera un sujet de regret pour les mécréants
Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs — Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
(And lo! It) i.e. the Qur'an (is indeed an anguish) a remorse (for the disbelievers) on the Day of Judgement.
