Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs

112 versets
وَجَعَلۡنَا فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ رَوَٰسِيَ أَن تَمِيدَ بِهِمۡ وَجَعَلۡنَا فِيهَا فِجَاجٗا سُبُلٗا لَّعَلَّهُمۡ يَهۡتَدُونَ
Et Nous avons placé des montagnes fermes dans la terre, afin qu'elle ne s'ébranle pas en les [entraînant]. Et Nous y avons placé des défilés servant de chemins afin qu'ils se guident
Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs — Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
(And We have placed in the earth firm hills) the mountains as pillars for it (lest it quake with them) lest the earth trembles with them on it, (and We have placed therein) in the earth (ravines) valleys (as roads) as spacious roads (that haply they may find their way) in their goings and comings.
وَجَعَلۡنَا ٱلسَّمَآءَ سَقۡفٗا مَّحۡفُوظٗاۖ وَهُمۡ عَنۡ ءَايَٰتِهَا مُعۡرِضُونَ
Et Nous avons fait du ciel un toit protégé. Et cependant ils se détournent de ses merveilles
Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs — Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
(And We have made the sky a roof) for the earth (withheld (from them)) such that it does not fall; it is also said that this means: it is protected from the satans by the stars. (Yet they) i.e. the people of Mecca (turn away from) they do not believe nor reflect upon (its portents) its sun, moon and stars.
وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ ٱلَّيۡلَ وَٱلنَّهَارَ وَٱلشَّمۡسَ وَٱلۡقَمَرَۖ كُلّٞ فِي فَلَكٖ يَسۡبَحُونَ
Et c'est Lui qui a créé la nuit et le jour, le soleil et la lune; chacun voguant dans une orbite
Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs — Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
(And He it is Who created the night and the day, and the sun and the moon) He made the sun and the moon subservient. (They float, each in an orbit) each one of them rotate around its orbit.
وَمَا جَعَلۡنَا لِبَشَرٖ مِّن قَبۡلِكَ ٱلۡخُلۡدَۖ أَفَإِيْن مِّتَّ فَهُمُ ٱلۡخَٰلِدُونَ
Et Nous n'avons attribué l'immortalité à nul homme avant toi. Est-ce que si tu meurs, toi, ils seront, eux, éternels
Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs — Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
(We appointed) We have created (immortality) in this worldly life (for no mortal) among the prophets (before thee. What! if thou diest) O Muhammad, (can they be immortal) in this worldly life? This verse was revealed when they said: we will wait until Muhammad dies and then we will find rest.
كُلُّ نَفۡسٖ ذَآئِقَةُ ٱلۡمَوۡتِۗ وَنَبۡلُوكُم بِٱلشَّرِّ وَٱلۡخَيۡرِ فِتۡنَةٗۖ وَإِلَيۡنَا تُرۡجَعُونَ
Toute âme doit goûter la mort. Nous vous éprouverons par le mal et par le bien [à titre] de tentation. Et c'est à Nous que vous serez ramenés
Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs — Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
(Every soul) that is possessed of breath (must taste of death, and We try you) We test you (with evil and with good) with hardship and comfort, (for ordeal) both are a test from Allah. (And unto Us ye will be returned) after you die and then He will requite you for your works.
