Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs

وَٱذۡكُرۡ فِي ٱلۡكِتَٰبِ مَرۡيَمَ إِذِ ٱنتَبَذَتۡ مِنۡ أَهۡلِهَا مَكَانٗا شَرۡقِيّٗا
Mentionne, dans le Livre (le Coran), Marie, quand elle se retira de sa famille en un lieu vers l'Orient
Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs — Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
(And make mention) O Muhammad (of Mary) of the event of Mary (in the Scripture) in the Qur'an, (when she had withdrawn from her people to a chamber looking East) east of their house,
فَٱتَّخَذَتۡ مِن دُونِهِمۡ حِجَابٗا فَأَرۡسَلۡنَآ إِلَيۡهَا رُوحَنَا فَتَمَثَّلَ لَهَا بَشَرٗا سَوِيّٗا
Elle mit entre elle et eux un voile. Nous lui envoyâmes Notre Esprit (Gabriel), qui se présenta à elle sous la forme d'un homme parfait

(And had chosen seclusion from them) so that she purifies herself after the end of her menses. (Then We sent unto her Our Spirit) Our Messenger Gabriel when she had finished purifying herself (and it assumed for her the likeness of a perfect man).
قَالَتۡ إِنِّيٓ أَعُوذُ بِٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِ مِنكَ إِن كُنتَ تَقِيّٗا
Elle dit: «Je me réfugie contre toi auprès du Tout Miséricordieux. Si tu es pieux, [ne m'approche point].»

(She said) Mary said: (Lo! I seek refuge in the Beneficent One from thee, if thou art God-fearing [taqiyya]) if you are obedient to the All-Merciful; it is also said that Taqiyy was the name of an evil man and she thought that he was that man, which explains why she sought refuge in Allah from him.
قَالَ إِنَّمَآ أَنَا۠ رَسُولُ رَبِّكِ لِأَهَبَ لَكِ غُلَٰمٗا زَكِيّٗا
Il dit: «Je suis en fait un Messager de ton Seigneur pour te faire don d'un fils pur»
Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs — Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
(He said) Gabriel said to her: (I am only a messenger of thy Lord, that I may bestow on thee) that Allah may bestow on you (a faultless son) a righteous son.
قَالَتۡ أَنَّىٰ يَكُونُ لِي غُلَٰمٞ وَلَمۡ يَمۡسَسۡنِي بَشَرٞ وَلَمۡ أَكُ بَغِيّٗا
Elle dit: «Comment aurais-je un fils, quand aucun homme ne m'a touchée, et que je ne suis pas prostituée?»

(She said) Mary said to Gabriel (pbuh): (How can I have a son when no mortal hath touched me) when no husband has come near me, (neither have I been unchaste) neither have I been an adulteress!
