111 versets
وَلَا تَقۡفُ مَا لَيۡسَ لَكَ بِهِۦ عِلۡمٌۚ إِنَّ ٱلسَّمۡعَ وَٱلۡبَصَرَ وَٱلۡفُؤَادَ كُلُّ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكَ كَانَ عَنۡهُ مَسۡـُٔولٗا
Et ne poursuis pas ce dont tu n'as aucune connaissance. L'ouïe, la vue et le cœur: sur tout cela, en vérité, on sera interrogé
Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs — Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
((O man), follow not) say not (that whereof thou hast no knowledge) whereby you say: I know, when you have no knowledge; or say: I saw, when you have not seen anything; or say: I heard, when you have not heard anything. (Lo! the hearing) that which you hear (and the sight) and that which you see (and the heart) and that which you hope for (of each of these) about each of these (it will be asked) on the Day of Judgement.
وَلَا تَمۡشِ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ مَرَحًاۖ إِنَّكَ لَن تَخۡرِقَ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَلَن تَبۡلُغَ ٱلۡجِبَالَ طُولٗا
Et ne foule pas la terre avec orgueil: tu ne sauras jamais fendre la terre et tu ne pourras jamais atteindre la hauteur des montagnes
Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs — Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
(And walk not in the earth exultant) showing haughtiness and arrogance. (Lo! thou canst not rend the earth) by means of your arrogance, (nor canst thou stretch to the height of the hills) nor reach the height of the mountains.
كُلُّ ذَٰلِكَ كَانَ سَيِّئُهُۥ عِندَ رَبِّكَ مَكۡرُوهٗا
Ce qui est mauvais en tout cela est détesté de ton Seigneur
Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs — Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
(The evil of all that) from which I have prohibited you (is hateful in the sight of thy Lord) is bad and hateful in the sight of your Lord.
ذَٰلِكَ مِمَّآ أَوۡحَىٰٓ إِلَيۡكَ رَبُّكَ مِنَ ٱلۡحِكۡمَةِۗ وَلَا تَجۡعَلۡ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَتُلۡقَىٰ فِي جَهَنَّمَ مَلُومٗا مَّدۡحُورًا
Tout cela fait partie de ce que ton Seigneur t'a révélé de la Sagesse. N'assigne donc pas à Allah d'autre divinité, sinon tu seras jeté dans l'Enfer, blâmé et repoussé
Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs — Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
(This) which I have commanded you with (is (part) of that wisdom) in the Qur'an (wherewith thy Lord hath inspired you) commanded thee ((O Muhammad). And set not up) and pronounce not (with Allah any other god, lest thou be cast into hell, reproved) reproached by your soul, (abandoned) deprived of all that which is good.
أَفَأَصۡفَىٰكُمۡ رَبُّكُم بِٱلۡبَنِينَ وَٱتَّخَذَ مِنَ ٱلۡمَلَـٰٓئِكَةِ إِنَٰثًاۚ إِنَّكُمۡ لَتَقُولُونَ قَوۡلًا عَظِيمٗا
Votre Seigneur, aurait-Il réservé exclusivement pour vous des fils, et Lui, aurait-Il pris pour Lui des filles parmi les Anges? Vous prononcez là une parole monstrueuse
Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs — Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
(Hath your Lord then distinguished you) chosen you ((O men of Mecca) by giving you sons, and hath chosen for Himself females from among the angels) as daughters? (Lo! verily you speak) about Allah (an awful word!) which deserves a severe punishment; it is also said that this means: you speak an awful word as a lie about Allah.
