فَلَمَّآ أَلۡقَوۡاْ قَالَ مُوسَىٰ مَا جِئۡتُم بِهِ ٱلسِّحۡرُۖ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ سَيُبۡطِلُهُۥٓ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُصۡلِحُ عَمَلَ ٱلۡمُفۡسِدِينَ
Lorsqu'ils jetèrent, Moïse dit: «Ce que vous avez produit est magie! Allah l'annulera. Car Allah ne fait pas prospérer ce que font les fauteurs de désordre
Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs — Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
(And when they had cast) their staffs and ropes, (Moses said) to them: (That which ye have brought) that which you have cast (is magic. Lo! Allah will make it vain) Allah will make it void. (Lo! Allah upholdeth not) Allah is not pleased with (the work of mischief-makers) of sorcerers.
وَيُحِقُّ ٱللَّهُ ٱلۡحَقَّ بِكَلِمَٰتِهِۦ وَلَوۡ كَرِهَ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ
Et par Ses paroles, Allah fera triompher la Vérité, quelque répulsion qu'en aient les criminels»
Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs — Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
(And Allah will vindicate) Allah will manifest for His religion (the Truth by His words) vindication, (however much the guilty be averse) even though the idolaters dislike this.
فَمَآ ءَامَنَ لِمُوسَىٰٓ إِلَّا ذُرِّيَّةٞ مِّن قَوۡمِهِۦ عَلَىٰ خَوۡفٖ مِّن فِرۡعَوۡنَ وَمَلَإِيْهِمۡ أَن يَفۡتِنَهُمۡۚ وَإِنَّ فِرۡعَوۡنَ لَعَالٖ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَإِنَّهُۥ لَمِنَ ٱلۡمُسۡرِفِينَ
Personne ne crut (au message) de Moïse, sauf un groupe de jeunes gens de son peuple, par crainte de représailles de Pharaon et de leurs notables. En vérité, Pharaon fut certes superbe sur terre et il fut du nombre des extravagants

(But none trusted) none believed (Moses, save some scions of his people) from the people of Pharaoh: their fathers were Copts and their mothers were Israelites, and so they believed in Moses, ((and they were) in fear of Pharaoh and their chiefs, that they would persecute them) kill them. (Lo! Pharaoh was verily a tyrant) a foe (in the land) to the religion of Moses, (and Lo! he verily was of the wanton) he was of the idolaters.
وَقَالَ مُوسَىٰ يَٰقَوۡمِ إِن كُنتُمۡ ءَامَنتُم بِٱللَّهِ فَعَلَيۡهِ تَوَكَّلُوٓاْ إِن كُنتُم مُّسۡلِمِينَ
Et Moïse dit: «O mon peuple, si vous croyez en Allah, placez votre confiance en Lui si vous (Lui) êtes soumis»
Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs — Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
(And Moses said: O my people! If you have believed in Allah then put trust in Him, if ye have indeed surrendered (unto Him)) because you have indeed surrendered to Allah!
فَقَالُواْ عَلَى ٱللَّهِ تَوَكَّلۡنَا رَبَّنَا لَا تَجۡعَلۡنَا فِتۡنَةٗ لِّلۡقَوۡمِ ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ
Ils dirent: «En Allah nous plaçons notre confiance. O notre Seigneur, ne fais pas de nous une cible pour les persécutions des injustes

(They said: In Allah we put trust. Our Lord! Oh, make us not a lure for the wrong-doing folk) for the idolaters, i.e. do not give them mastery over us lest they think themselves to be followers of the Truth and us followers of falsehood;
