فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُمُ ٱلۡحَقُّ مِنۡ عِندِنَا قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَسِحۡرٞ مُّبِينٞ
Et lorsque la vérité leur vint de Notre part, ils dirent: «Voilà certes, une magie manifeste!»
Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs — Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
(And when the Truth) the Scripture, the Messenger and the revelations (from Our presence came unto them, they said: This) what Moses has brought (is mere magic) is a manifest lie; and according to a different reading this means: Moses is a lying sorcerer.
قَالَ مُوسَىٰٓ أَتَقُولُونَ لِلۡحَقِّ لَمَّا جَآءَكُمۡۖ أَسِحۡرٌ هَٰذَا وَلَا يُفۡلِحُ ٱلسَّـٰحِرُونَ
Moïse dit: «Dites-vous à la Vérité quand elle vous est venue: Est-ce que cela est de la magie? Alors que les magiciens ne réussissent pas...»
Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs — Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
(Moses said) to them: (Speak ye (so) of the Truth) the Scripture, Messenger and revelations (when it hath come unto you? Is this magic? Now magicians thrive not) they have neither escape nor safety from Allah's chastisement.
قَالُوٓاْ أَجِئۡتَنَا لِتَلۡفِتَنَا عَمَّا وَجَدۡنَا عَلَيۡهِ ءَابَآءَنَا وَتَكُونَ لَكُمَا ٱلۡكِبۡرِيَآءُ فِي ٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا نَحۡنُ لَكُمَا بِمُؤۡمِنِينَ
Ils dirent: «Est-ce pour nous écarter de ce sur quoi nous avons trouvé nos ancêtres que tu es venu à nous, et pour que la grandeur appartienne à vous deux sur la terre? Et nous ne croyons pas en vous!»

(They said) to Moses: (Hast thou come unto us to pervert us from that (faith) in which we found our fathers) of idol worship, (and that you two may own the place of greatness) sovereignty and power (in the land) of Egypt? (We will not believe you two).
وَقَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنُ ٱئۡتُونِي بِكُلِّ سَٰحِرٍ عَلِيمٖ
Et Pharaon dit: «Amenez-moi tout magicien savant!»

(And Pharaoh said: Bring every cunning) every skilful (wizard unto me).
فَلَمَّا جَآءَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰٓ أَلۡقُواْ مَآ أَنتُم مُّلۡقُونَ
Puis, lorsque vinrent les magiciens, Moïse leur dit: «Jetez ce que vous avez à jeter»

(And when the wizards came, Moses said unto them: Cast your cast) cast your staffs and ropes!
