قَالَ إِن كُنتَ جِئۡتَ بِـَٔايَةٖ فَأۡتِ بِهَآ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰدِقِينَ
«Si tu es venu avec un miracle, dit (Pharaon,) apporte-le donc, si tu es du nombre des véridiques.»

((Pharaoh) said: If thou comest with a token) with a sign, (then produce it, if you are of those who speak the Truth) and if you are indeed a messenger.
فَأَلۡقَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ ثُعۡبَانٞ مُّبِينٞ
Il jeta son bâton et voilà que c'était un serpent évident

(Then he flung down his staff) the first token (and lo! it was a serpent manifest) a yellow, male serpent: a huge one;
وَنَزَعَ يَدَهُۥ فَإِذَا هِيَ بَيۡضَآءُ لِلنَّـٰظِرِينَ
Et il sortit sa main et voilà qu'elle était blanche (éclatante), pour ceux qui regardaient

(And he drew forth his hand) from his armpit: (and lo! it was white) shining (for the beholders) who looked at it.
قَالَ ٱلۡمَلَأُ مِن قَوۡمِ فِرۡعَوۡنَ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَسَٰحِرٌ عَلِيمٞ
Les notables du peuple de Pharaon dirent: «Voilà, certes, un magicien chevronné

(The chiefs of Pharaoh's people said: Lo! this is some knowing wizard) who is proficient in wizardry,
يُرِيدُ أَن يُخۡرِجَكُم مِّنۡ أَرۡضِكُمۡۖ فَمَاذَا تَأۡمُرُونَ
Il veut vous expulser de votre pays.» - «Alors, que commandez-vous?»

(Who would expel you from your land) the land of Egypt. (Now what do ye advise?) Pharaoh said to them: " What do you advise that we should do concerning this matter? "
