41S54V41

وَلَقَدۡ جَآءَ ءَالَ فِرۡعَوۡنَ ٱلنُّذُرُ

Les avertissements vinrent certes, aux gens de Pharaon

Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘AbbâsTanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs

(And warnings came in truth unto the house of Pharaoh) Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and his folk

42S54V42

كَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا كُلِّهَا فَأَخَذۡنَٰهُمۡ أَخۡذَ عَزِيزٖ مُّقۡتَدِرٍ

Ils traitèrent de mensonges tous Nos prodiges. Nous les saisîmes donc, de la saisie d'un Puissant Omnipotent

Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘AbbâsTanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs

(Who denied Our revelations, every one) of the nine signs. (Therefore We grasped them with the grasp of the Mighty) by means of punishment, (the Powerful) to inflict punishment.

43S54V43

أَكُفَّارُكُمۡ خَيۡرٞ مِّنۡ أُوْلَـٰٓئِكُمۡ أَمۡ لَكُم بَرَآءَةٞ فِي ٱلزُّبُرِ

Vos mécréants sont-ils meilleurs que ceux-là? Ou bien y a-t-il dans les Ecritures une immunité pour vous

Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘AbbâsTanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs

(Are your disbelievers) O Muhammad; and it is said: O people of Mecca (better than those) We related to you, (or have ye some immunity in the Scriptures) from punishment?

44S54V44

أَمۡ يَقُولُونَ نَحۡنُ جَمِيعٞ مُّنتَصِرٞ

Ou bien ils disent: «Nous formons un groupe [fort] et nous vaincrons»

Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘AbbâsTanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs

(Or say they) i.e. the disbelievers of Mecca: (We are a host victorious) and immune from punishment?

45S54V45

سَيُهۡزَمُ ٱلۡجَمۡعُ وَيُوَلُّونَ ٱلدُّبُرَ

Leur rassemblement sera bientôt mis en déroute, et ils fuiront

Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘AbbâsTanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs

(The hosts) the hosts of the disbelieving (will all be routed) on the Day of Badr (and will turn and flee) defeated; this refers to Abu Jahl and his host, some of whom were killed on the Day of Badr and others defeated.
