أَفَلَمۡ يَنظُرُوٓاْ إِلَى ٱلسَّمَآءِ فَوۡقَهُمۡ كَيۡفَ بَنَيۡنَٰهَا وَزَيَّنَّـٰهَا وَمَا لَهَا مِن فُرُوجٖ
N'ont-ils donc pas observé le ciel au-dessus d'eux, comment Nous l'avons bâti et embelli; et comment il est sans fissures
Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs — Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
(Have they) i.e. the disbelievers of Mecca (not then observed the sky above them) above their heads, (how We have constructed it) without pillars (and beautified it) and beautified it with stars, (and how there are no rifts therein) and how there are no rifts, cracks or defects therein?
وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ مَدَدۡنَٰهَا وَأَلۡقَيۡنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِيَ وَأَنۢبَتۡنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوۡجِۭ بَهِيجٖ
Et la terre, Nous l'avons étendue et Nous y avons enfoncé fermement des montagnes et y avons fait pousser toutes sortes de magnifiques couples de [végétaux]

(And the earth have We spread out) over water, (and have flung firm hills) firm mountains so that it does not sway (therein) on the earth, (and have caused of every lovely kind to grow thereon) and have caused of every kind of seemly appearance to grow thereon,
تَبۡصِرَةٗ وَذِكۡرَىٰ لِكُلِّ عَبۡدٖ مُّنِيبٖ
à titre d'appel à la clairvoyance et un rappel pour tout serviteur repentant
Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs — Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
(A vision) so that you may see (and a reminder) a lesson so that you may learn from it; it is also said �a vision� means an admonition and �reminder� means reflection (for every penitent slave) who turns to Allah and His obedience.
وَنَزَّلۡنَا مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءٗ مُّبَٰرَكٗا فَأَنۢبَتۡنَا بِهِۦ جَنَّـٰتٖ وَحَبَّ ٱلۡحَصِيدِ
Et Nous avons fait descendre du ciel une eau bénie, avec laquelle Nous avons fait pousser des jardins et le grain qu'on moissonne

(And We send down from the sky blessed water) rain blessed with vegetation and benefit from which all things derive life (whereby We give growth unto gardens and the grain of crops) all kinds of grain that are harvested,
وَٱلنَّخۡلَ بَاسِقَٰتٖ لَّهَا طَلۡعٞ نَّضِيدٞ
ainsi que les hauts palmiers aux régimes superposés

(And lofty date-palms with ranged clusters,
