فَأُلۡقِيَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ سَٰجِدِينَ
Alors les magiciens tombèrent prosternés
Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs — Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
(And the wizards were flung prostrate) they fell prostrate so fast that it looked that they were thrown to the floor, because when they saw their ropes and staffs disappear, they knew that what Moses brought was from Allah,
قَالُوٓاْ ءَامَنَّا بِرَبِّ ٱلۡعَٰلَمِينَ
disant: «Nous croyons au Seigneur de l'univers
Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs — Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
(Crying: We believe in the Lord of the Worlds) upon which Pharaoh said: are you referring to me?
رَبِّ مُوسَىٰ وَهَٰرُونَ
Le Seigneur de Moïse et d'Aaron»
Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs — Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
They said: (The Lord of Moses and Aaron.
قَالَ ءَامَنتُمۡ لَهُۥ قَبۡلَ أَنۡ ءَاذَنَ لَكُمۡۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَكَبِيرُكُمُ ٱلَّذِي عَلَّمَكُمُ ٱلسِّحۡرَ فَلَسَوۡفَ تَعۡلَمُونَۚ لَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَيۡدِيَكُمۡ وَأَرۡجُلَكُم مِّنۡ خِلَٰفٖ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمۡ أَجۡمَعِينَ
[Pharaon] dit: «Avez-vous cru en lui avant que je ne vous le permette? En vérité, c'est lui votre chef, qui vous a enseigné la magie! Eh bien, vous saurez bientôt! Je vous couperai, sûrement, mains et jambes opposées, et vous crucifierai tous»
Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs — Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
(Pharaoh) said, You put your faith in him) you believed in him (before I give you leave) I commanded you to do so. (Lo! He) i.e. Moses (doubtless is your chief) your master wizard (who taught you magic! But verily ye shall come to know) what I will do to you. (Verily I will cut off your hands and your feet alternately) the right hand with the left leg, (and verily I will crucify you everyone) on the bank of the river of Egypt.
قَالُواْ لَا ضَيۡرَۖ إِنَّآ إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا مُنقَلِبُونَ
Ils disent: «Il n'y a pas de mal! Car c'est vers notre Seigneur que nous retournerons
Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs — Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs
(They said: It is no hurt) what you do with us in this worldly life will not harm us in the Hereafter, (for lo! unto our Lord we shall return) we shall return to Allah and His reward.
