71S11V71

وَٱمۡرَأَتُهُۥ قَآئِمَةٞ فَضَحِكَتۡ فَبَشَّرۡنَٰهَا بِإِسۡحَٰقَ وَمِن وَرَآءِ إِسۡحَٰقَ يَعۡقُوبَ

Sa femme était debout, et elle rit alors; Nous lui annonçâmes donc (la naissance d') Isaac, et après Isaac, Jacob

Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘AbbâsTanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs

(And his wife) Sarah, (standing by) to serve them, (laughed) in astonishment that Abraham was afraid (when We gave her good tidings (of the birth) of Isaac, and, after Isaac, of Jacob) a grandchild.

72S11V72

قَالَتۡ يَٰوَيۡلَتَىٰٓ ءَأَلِدُ وَأَنَا۠ عَجُوزٞ وَهَٰذَا بَعۡلِي شَيۡخًاۖ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَشَيۡءٌ عَجِيبٞ

Elle dit: «Malheur à moi! Vais-je enfanter alors que je suis vieille et que mon mari, que voici, est un vieillard? C'est là vraiment une chose étrange!»

Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘AbbâsTanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs

(She said: Oh, woe is me! Shall I bear a child when I am an old woman) a 98 year old woman, how can this be? (and this my husband) Abraham (is an old man) 99 years of age? (Lo! This is a strange thing!) this is astonishing!

73S11V73

قَالُوٓاْ أَتَعۡجَبِينَ مِنۡ أَمۡرِ ٱللَّهِۖ رَحۡمَتُ ٱللَّهِ وَبَرَكَٰتُهُۥ عَلَيۡكُمۡ أَهۡلَ ٱلۡبَيۡتِۚ إِنَّهُۥ حَمِيدٞ مَّجِيدٞ

Ils dirent: «T'étonnes-tu de l'ordre d'Allah? Que la miséricorde d'Allah et Ses bénédictions soient sur vous, gens de cette maison! Il est vraiment, digne de louange et de glorification!»

Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘AbbâsTanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs

(They said) to her: (Wonderest thou at the commandment of Allah) are you amazed with the power of Allah? (The mercy of Allah and His blessings be upon you, O people of the house) the people of the house of Abraham! (Lo! He is Owner of Praise) for your works, (Owner of Glory!) He is Generous and will favour you with a righteous son.

74S11V74

فَلَمَّا ذَهَبَ عَنۡ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ ٱلرَّوۡعُ وَجَآءَتۡهُ ٱلۡبُشۡرَىٰ يُجَٰدِلُنَا فِي قَوۡمِ لُوطٍ

Lorsque l'effroi eut quitté Abraham et que la bonne nouvelle l'eut atteint, voilà qu'il discuta avec Nous (en faveur) du peuple de Lot

(And when the awe) fear (departed from Abraham, and the glad news) that he will have a son (reached him, he pleaded with Us) he argued with Us (on behalf of the folk of Lot) about the destruction of the people of Lot.

75S11V75

إِنَّ إِبۡرَٰهِيمَ لَحَلِيمٌ أَوَّـٰهٞ مُّنِيبٞ

Abraham était, certes, longanime, très implorant et repentant

Tanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘AbbâsTanwîr al-Miqbâs min Tafsîr Ibn ‘Abbâs

(Lo! Abraham was mild) in the face of ignorance, (imploring) compassionate, (penitent) devoted to Allah.
