dansShama'il Muhammadiyahحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مُوسَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مَعْنٌ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم نَهَى أَنْ يَأْكُلَ، يَعْنِي الرَّجُلَ، بِشِمَالِهِ، أَوْ يَمْشِيَ فِي نَعْلٍ وَاحِدَةٍ.
“The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) forbade one (referring to the man) to eat with his left hand, or to walk in a single sandal.”
Abu Huraira said
dansShama'il Muhammadiyahقَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم، قَالَ: إِذَا انْتَعَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَبْدَأْ بِالْيَمِينِ، وَإِذَا نَزَعَ فَلْيَبْدَأْ بِالشِّمَالِ، فَلْتَكُنِ الْيَمِينُ أَوَّلَهُمَا تُنْعَلُ، وَآخِرَهُمَا تُنْزَعُ.
“The Prophet said (Allah bless him and give him peace): "When one of you puts on sandals, let him begin with the right, and when he takes them off, let him begin with the left, for the right must be the first of them to be put on, and the last of them to be taken off.”
'A’isha said
dansShama'il Muhammadiyahقَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَشْعَثُ هُوَ ابْنُ أَبِي الشَّعْثَاءِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ، قَالَتْ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يُحِبُّ التَّيَمُّنَ مَا اسْتَطَاعَ فِي تَرَجُّلِهِ، وَتَنَعُّلِهِ وَطُهُورِهِ.
"Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) would love to start whatever he could on the right side, in his combing, his footwear and his purification.”
Abu Huraira said
dansShama'il Muhammadiyahقَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: كَانَ لِنَعْلِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قِبَالانِ وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ، وَأَوَّلُ مَنْ عَقَدَ عَقْدًا وَاحِدًا عُثْمَانُ رضي الله عنه..
“The sandals of Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) had two thongs, as did those of Abu Bakr and 'Umar (may Allah the Exalted be well pleased with them), and the first to tie a single knot was 'Uthman (may Allah be well pleased with him).”
Anas ibn Malik said
dansShama'il Muhammadiyahقَالَ: كَانَ خَاتَمُ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم مِنْ وَرِقٍ، وَكَانَ فَصُّهُ حَبَشِيًّا.
“The signet ring of the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) consisted of silver, and its stone was Abyssinian.”
Ibn 'Umar said
dansShama'il Muhammadiyahحَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم اتَّخَذَ خَاتَمًا مِنْ فِضَّةٍ، فَكَانَ يَخْتِمُ بِهِ وَلا يَلْبَسُهُ.
"The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) chose a signet ring of silver, so he used to seal with it, and he would not wear it.”
Anas ibn Malik said
dansShama'il Muhammadiyahقَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ: كَانَ خَاتَمُ رَسُولِ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم، مِنْ فِضَّةٍ، فَصُّهُ مِنْهُ.
“The signet ring of the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) consisted of silver, including its stone.”
Anas ibn Malik said
dansShama'il Muhammadiyahقَالَ: لَمَّا أَرَادَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنْ يَكْتُبَ إِلَى الْعَجَمِ قِيلَ لَهُ: إِنَّ الْعَجَمَ لا يَقْبَلُونَ إِلا كِتَابًا عَلَيْهِ خَاتَمٌ، فَاصْطَنَعَ خَاتَمًا، فَكَأَنِّي أَنْظُرُ إِلَى بَيَاضِهِ فِي كَفِّهِ.
“When Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) wished to write to the non-Arabs, he was told: ‘The non-Arabs will not accept a letter unless it bears a seal.’ He therefore created a signet, and I can see its whiteness in the palm of his hand.”
Anas ibn Malik said
dansShama'il Muhammadiyahقَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ ثُمَامَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ: كَانَ نَقْشُ خَاتَمِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم: مُحَمَّدٌ سَطْرٌ، وَرَسُولٌ سَطْرٌ، وَاللَّهُ سَطْرٌ.
“The inscription engraved on the signet ring of Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) was: Muhammadun forming one line, Rasulu forming one line, and Allahi forming one line.”
Anas ibn Malik said
dansShama'il Muhammadiyahحَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجَهْضَمِيُّ أَبُو عَمْرٍو، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا نُوحُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَتَبَ إِلَى كِسْرَى وَقَيْصَرَ وَالنَّجَاشِيِّ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ: إِنَّهُمْ لا يَقْبَلُونَ كِتَابًا، إِلا بِخَاتَمٍ، فَصَاغَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم، خَاتَمًا حَلْقَتُهُ فِضَّةٌ، وَنُقِشَ فِيهِ: مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللهِ.
"The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) wrote to Chosroes, Caesar and the Negus, whereupon he was told: 'The non-Arabs will not accept a letter unless it bears a seal.' Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) therefore cast a signet which had a silver ring, and on which was engraved; “Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.”

dansShama'il Muhammadiyahحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ، وَالْحَجَّاجُ بْنُ مِنْهَالٍ، عَنْ هَمَّامٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ إِذَا دَخَلَ الْخَلاءَ نَزَعَ خَاتَمَهُ.
"When the Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) entered the toilet, he used to remove his signet ring.”
Ibn 'Umar said
dansShama'il Muhammadiyahقَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: اتَّخَذَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم، خَاتَمًا مِنْ وَرِقٍ، فَكَانَ فِي يَدِهِ ثُمَّ كَانَ فِي يَدِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، وَيَدِ عُمَرَ، ثُمَّ كَانَ فِي يَدِ عُثْمَانَ، حَتَّى وَقَعَ فِي بِئْرِ أَرِيسٍ، نَقْشُهُ: مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللهِ.
“Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) chose a signet ring of silver, so it was in his possession. Then it was in the possession of Abu Bakr and the possession of 'Umar. Then it was in the possession of 'Uthman, until it fell into the well of Aris. Its engraved inscription was: ‘Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah.”
'Ali ibn Abi Talib said (may Allah be well pleased with him)
dansShama'il Muhammadiyahقَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلالٍ، عَنْ شَرِيكِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي نَمِرٍ، عَنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ حُنَيْنٍ، عَنِ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ: أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ يَلْبَسُ خَاتَمَهُ فِي يَمِينِهِ. حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ بِلالٍ، عَنْ شَرِيكِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي نَمِرٍ، نَحْوَهُ.
“The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) used to wear his signet ring on his right hand.”
Hammad ibn Salama said
dansShama'il Muhammadiyahقَالَ : رَأَيْتُ ابْنَ أَبِي رَافِعٍ يَتَخَتَّمُ فِي يَمِينِهِ فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنْ ذَلِكَ , فَقَالَ : رَأَيْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ جَعْفَرٍ يَتَخَتَّمُ فِي يَمِينِهِ وَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَتَخَتَّمُ فِي يَمِينِهِ " .
"I saw Ibn Abi Rafi' wearing a signet ring on his right hand, so I asked him about that and he said: 'I saw 'Abdu llah ibn Ja'far wearing a signet ring on his right hand', and 'Abdullah ibn Ja'far said: 'Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) used to wear a signet ring on his right hand'.”
Abdullah ibn Ja'far said
dansShama'il Muhammadiyahقَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ يَتَخَتَّمُ فِي يَمِينِهِ.
“He (Allah bless him and give him peace) used to wear a signet ring on his right hand.”
Jabir ibn ‘Abdi’llah said
dansShama'il Muhammadiyahحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْخَطَّابِ زِيَادُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مَيْمُونٍ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ: أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ يَتَخَتَّمُ فِي يَمِينِهِ.
"The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) used to wear a signet ring on his right hand.”
‘As-Salt ibn 'Abdi’llah said
dansShama'il Muhammadiyahقَالَ: كَانَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ، يَتَخَتَّمُ فِي يَمِينِهِ، وَلا إِخَالُهُ إِلا قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَتَخَتَّمُ فِي يَمِينِهِ.
“Ibn 'Abbas used to wear a signet ring on his right hand, without adornment, and he said: 'Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) used to wear a signet ring on his right hand'.”
Ibn 'Umar said
dansShama'il Muhammadiyahحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيان، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ بْنِ مُوسَى، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ: أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم اتَّخَذَ خَاتَمًا مِنْ فِضَّةٍ، وَجَعَلَ فَصَّهُ مِمَّا يَلِي كَفَّهُ، وَنَقَشَ فِيهِ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللهِ، وَنَهَى أَنْ يَنْقُشَ أَحَدٌ عَلَيْهِ وَهُوَ الَّذِي سَقَطَ مِنْ مُعَيْقِيبٍ فِي بِئْرِ أَرِيسٍ.
"The Prophet (Allah bless him and give him peace) chose a signet ring of silver, and put its stone in the part close to the palm of his hand. On it he engraved: “Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah,” and he forbade anyone to engrave on it. It is the one that fell from Mu'aiqib into the well of Aris.”
Ja'far ibn Muhammad reports that his father said
dansShama'il Muhammadiyahقَالَ: كان الحسن والحسين يتختمان في يسارهما.
"Al-Hasan and al-Husain used to wear signet rings on their left hands."
Anas ibn Malik said
dansShama'il Muhammadiyahقَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّادُ بْنُ الْعَوَّامِ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ: أَنَّهُ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ يَتَخَتَّمُ فِي يَمِينِهِ. قال أبو عيسى: هذا حديث غريب لا نعرفه من حديث سعيد بن أبي عروبة عن قتادة عن أنس عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم نحو هذا إلا من هذا الوجه. وروى بعض أصحاب قتادة عن قتادة عن أنس بن مالك عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أنه كان يتختم في يساره هو حديث لا يصح أيضا.
