Anas ibn Malik said
قَالَ: كَانَ شَعَرُ رَسُولِ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم إِلَى نِصْفِ أُذُنَيْهِ.
"The hair of Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) came down to the middle of his ears.”
'A’isha said
قَالَتْ: كُنْتُ أَغْتَسِلُ أَنَا وَرَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم مِنْ إِنَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ، وَكَانَ لَهُ شَعَرٌ فَوْقَ الْجُمَّةِ، وَدُونَ الْوَفْرَةِ.
"I used to perform the major ritual ablution, I and Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) from a single basin, and he had hair above the shoulder level and below the earlobes.”
Al-Bara’ ibn 'Azib said
قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم مَرْبُوعًا، بَعِيدَ مَا بَيْنَ الْمِنْكَبَيْنِ، وَكَانَتْ جُمَّتُهُ تَضْرِبُ شَحْمَةَ أُذُنَيْهِ.
“Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) was of medium height, broad-shouldered, and the hair of his head touched the lobes of his ears.”
Qatada said
قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ لأَنَسٍ: كَيْفَ كَانَ شَعَرُ رَسُولِ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم؟ قَالَ: لَمْ يَكُنْ بِالْجَعْدِ، وَلا بِالسَّبْطِ، كَانَ يَبْلُغُ شَعَرُهُ شَحْمَةَ أُذُنَيْهِ.
“I said to Anas: ‘How was the hair of Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace)?' He replied: 'It was neither crisply curled nor lank. His hair used to reach the lobes of his ears'.”
Umm Hani bint 'Ali ibn Talib said
قَالَتْ: قَدِمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم مَكَّةَ قَدْمَةً، وَلَهُ أَرْبَعُ غَدَائِرَ.
"Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) arrived boldly at Mecca, and he had four braids of hair.”
Anas said
حَدَّثَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ نَصْرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ الْبُنَانِيِّ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ: أَنَّ شَعَرَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم، كَانَ إِلَى أَنْصَافِ أُذُنَيْهِ.
"The hair of Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) was down to the middle parts of his ears.”
Ibn 'Abbas said
قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ : " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُسْدِلُ شَعْرَهُ ، وَكَانَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ يَفْرِقُونَ رُءُوسَهُمْ ، وَكَانَ أَهْلُ الْكِتَابِ يُسْدِلُونَ رُءُوسَهُمْ ، وَكَانَ يُحِبُّ مُوَافَقَةَ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ فِيمَا لَمْ يُؤْمَرْ فِيهِ بِشَيْءٍ ، ثُمَّ فَرَقَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأْسَهُ ".
“Allah’s Messenger(Allah bless him and give him peace) used to let his hair hang down , whereas the polytheists used to part the hair of their heads. The People of the Scripture also used to let the hair of their heads hang down, and he used favor emulating the People of the Scripture with respect to things about which nothing was commanded, but Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) then parted the hair of his head.”
Umm Hani said
قَالَتْ: رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ذَا ضَفَائِرَ أَرْبَعٍ.
"I saw Allah’s Messenger (Allah bless him and give him peace) with four braids of hair.”
