وَأَصْلُهُ فِي اَلصَّحِيحَيْنِ مِنْ حَدِيثِ عَبْدِ اَللَّهِ بْنِ زَيْد ٍ 1 .1 - صحيح. ولفظه: شكي إلى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم: الرجل يخيل إليه أن يجد الشيء في الصلاة؟ قال: "لا ينصرف حتى سمع صوتا، أو يجد ريحا". البخاري (137)، ومسلم (361).
It is originally from the Sahihain of Bukhari and Muslim as the Hadith narrated by ‘Abdullah bin Zaid.
وَلِمُسْلِمٍ: عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ نَحْوُهُ.
And Muslim reported by Abu Huraira likewise.
And Abu Sa’id narrated in Marfu’ Hadith
dansBulugh al-Maramقَالَ: إِنَّكَ أَحْدَثْتَ, فَلْيَقُلْ: كَذَبْتَ }
“If Satan comes to one of you and says: ‘You have nullified your ablution (by releasing air)’, let him say: ‘You have lied.” .
Ibn Hibban also reported the above Hadith with the version
dansBulugh al-Maramوَأَخْرَجَهُ اِبْنُ حِبَّانَ بِلَفْظِ: { فَلْيَقُلْ فِي نَفْسِهِ } 1 .1 - ضعيف. رواه الحاكم (134)، وابن حبان (2666)، وتمامه عندهما: "حتى يسمع صوتا بأذنه، أو يجد ريحا بأنفه".

Anas bin Malik (rad)
dansBulugh al-Maramعَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ - رضى الله عنه - قَالَ: { كَانَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -إِذَا دَخَلَ اَلْخَلَاءَ وَضَعَ خَاتَمَهُ } أَخْرَجَهُ اَلْأَرْبَعَةُ, وَهُوَ مَعْلُول ٌ 1 .1 - منكر . رواه أبو داود (19)، والترمذي (1746)، والنسائي (1/178)، وابن ماجه (303).
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) used to remove his ring when entering the lavatory. .
Anas (rad)
dansBulugh al-Maramقَالَ: "اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ اَلْخُبُثِ وَالْخَبَائِثِ" } أَخْرَجَهُ اَلسَّبْعَة ُ 1 .1 - صحيح. رواه البخاري (142)، ومسلم (375)، وأبو داود (4)، والترمذي (5)، والنسائي (10)، وابن ماجه (296)، أحمد (3/99 و 101 و 282).
The Prophet (ﷺ) on entering the lavatory used to say: “O Allah, I seek refuge with You from devils – males and females (or all offensive and wicked things, evil deeds and evil spirits, etc.)”
Anas (rad)
dansBulugh al-Maramوَعَنْهُ قَالَ: { كَانَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -يَدْخُلُ اَلْخَلَاءَ, فَأَحْمِلُ أَنَا وَغُلَامٌ نَحْوِي إِدَاوَةً مِنْ مَاءٍ وَعَنَزَةً, فَيَسْتَنْجِي بِالْمَاءِ } مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْه ِ 1 .1 - صحيح. رواه البخاري (150)، ومسلم (271)، (70) واللفظ لمسلم. والعنزة: رميح بين العصا والرمح، فيه زج.
Whenever Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) went to the privy, a servant and I used to carry a skin water container and a spear, and he would cleanse himself with the water. .
Al-Mughira bin Shu’ba (rad)
dansBulugh al-Maramوَعَنْ اَلْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ - رضى الله عنه - قَالَ: { قَالَ لِي اَلنَّبِيُّ - صلى الله عليه وسلم - "خُذِ اَلْإِدَاوَةَ". فَانْطَلَقَ حَتَّى تَوَارَى عَنِّي, فَقَضَى حَاجَتَهُ } مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْه ِ 1 .1 - صحيح. رواه البخاري (363)، ومسلم (274) (77).
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) told me, “Take the skin water”, he then went forward till he disappeared from me and relieved himself
Abu Huraira (rad)
dansBulugh al-Maramوَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ - رضى الله عنه - قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -{ اِتَّقُوا اَللَّاعِنِينَ: اَلَّذِي يَتَخَلَّى فِي طَرِيقِ اَلنَّاسِ, أَوْ فِي ظِلِّهِمْ } رَوَاهُ مُسْلِم ٌ 1 .1 - صحيح. رواه مسلم (269).
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said: “Safeguard yourselves from the two matters which cause accursing that befalls the one who relieves himself on people’s path-ways and under the shades.” .
Mu’adh (rad)
dansBulugh al-Maramزَادَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ, عَنْ مُعَاذٍ: { وَالْمَوَارِدَ } 1 .1 - ضعيف. أي بلفظ: "والموارد" وباقيه صحيح. رواه أبو داود (26) ولفظه: "اتقوا الملاعن الثلاث: البراز في الموارد، وقارعة الطريق، والظل".
He said: “Guard against the three things which cause curse (i.e.) defecating at the watering places, on the roadbeds and in the shades.”
وَلِأَحْمَدَ; عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: { أَوْ نَقْعِ مَاءٍ } وَفِيهِمَا ضَعْف ٌ 1 .1 - ضعيف. رواه أحمد (2715).
Ahmad reported from Ibn Abbas (rad) that defecation is prohibited also at the place where water collects. .
وَأَخْرَجَ اَلطَّبَرَانِيُّ اَلنَّهْيَ عَن ْ 1 تَحْتِ اَلْأَشْجَارِ اَلْمُثْمِرَةِ, وَضَفَّةِ اَلنَّهْرِ الْجَارِي. مِنْ حَدِيثِ اِبْنِ عُمَرَ بِسَنَدٍ ضَعِيف ٍ 2 .1 - أي: التخلي.2 - منكر. رواه الطبراني بتمامه في "الأوسط" كما في مجمع البحرين (349)، وفي "الكبير" الشطر الأخير منه كما في "مجمع الزوائد" (104).
At-Tabarani also narrated on the authority of Ibn ‘Umar (with a weak chain of narrators), the prohibition of relieving oneself under fruit trees and beside the bank of a flowing river.
Jabir (rad)
dansBulugh al-Maramوَعَنْ جَابِرٍ - رضى الله عنه - قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -{ إِذَا تَغَوَّطَ اَلرَّجُلَانِ فَلْيَتَوَارَ كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ مِنْهُمَا عَنْ صَاحِبِهِ, وَلَا يَتَحَدَّثَا. فَإِنَّ اَللَّهَ يَمْقُتُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ } رَوَاهُ . 1 وَصَحَّحَهُ اِبْنُ اَلسَّكَنِ, وَابْنُ اَلْقَطَّانِ, وَهُوَ مَعْلُول ٌ 2 .1 - كذا بالأصل دون ذكر من أخرجه، ولم أجده من حديث جابر، وهو عند أحمد وأبي داود من حديث أبي سعيد.2 - ضعيف. وانظر الأصل.
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said: “When two people go together to relieve themselves they should disappear from each other and do not talk, for Allah detests that”. .
Abu Qatada (rad)
dansBulugh al-Maramوَعَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ - رضى الله عنه - قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ - صلى الله عليه وسلم -{ لَا يُمْسِكَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ ذَكَرَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ, وَهُوَ يَبُولُ, وَلَا يَتَمَسَّحْ مِنْ اَلْخَلَاءِ بِيَمِينِهِ, وَلَا يَتَنَفَّسْ فِي اَلْإِنَاءِ } مُتَّفَقٌ عَلَيْهِ, وَاللَّفْظُ لِمُسْلِم ٍ 1 .1 - صحيح. رواه البخاري (153)، ومسلم (267) (63) .
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said: “Nobody should touch his pennies with his right hand when urinating, and should not clean himself (from defecation or urine) using his right hand and should not breathe in the utensil (he is drinking from).” .
Salman (rad)
dansBulugh al-Maramوَعَنْ سَلْمَانَ - رضى الله عنه - قَالَ: { لَقَدْ نَهَانَا رَسُولُ اَللَّهِ - صلى الله عليه وسلم - "أَنْ نَسْتَقْبِلَ اَلْقِبْلَةَ بِغَائِطٍ أَوْ بَوْلٍ, أَوْ أَنْ نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِالْيَمِينِ, أَوْ أَنْ نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِأَقَلَّ مِنْ ثَلَاثَةِ أَحْجَارٍ, أَوْ أَنْ نَسْتَنْجِيَ بِرَجِيعٍ أَوْ عَظْمٍ" } رَوَاهُ مُسْلِم ٌ 1 .1 - صحيح. رواه مسلم (262) قيل لسلمان: قد علمكم نبيكم صلى الله عليه وسلم كل شيء حتى الخراءة. قال: أجل. لقد نهانا... الحديث.
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) forbade us to face the Qiblah when defecating or urinating, or to clean ourselves using the right hand, or to clean ourselves with less than three stones, or to clean ourselves with dung or a bone .
Abu Ayub (rad)
dansBulugh al-Maramوَلِلسَّبْعَةِ مِنْ حَدِيثِ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ - رضى الله عنه - { لَا تَسْتَقْبِلُوا اَلْقِبْلَةَ بِغَائِطٍ وَلَا بَوْلٍ, وَلَكِنْ شَرِّقُوا أَوْ غَرِّبُوا } 1 .1 - صحيح. رواه البخاري (144 و 394)، ومسلم (264)، وأبو داود (9)، والنسائي (12-23)، الترمذي (8)، وابن ماجه (318)، وأحمد (5 /414 و 416 و 417 و 421).
Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) “Neither face nor turn your back to the Qiblah while defecating or urinating, but turn towards the east or the west”.
‘Aisha (rad)
dansBulugh al-Maramقَالَ: { مَنْ أَتَى اَلْغَائِطَ فَلْيَسْتَتِرْ } رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُد َ 1 .1 - ضعيف. ووهم الحافظ في نسبته لعائشة رضي الله عنها، وإنما الحديث لأبي هريرة عند أبي داود (35).
The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “If anyone goes to relive himself, he should conceal himself”. .
‘Aisha (rad)
dansBulugh al-Maramقَالَ: "غُفْرَانَكَ" } أَخْرَجَهُ اَلْخَمْسَةُ. وَصَحَّحَهُ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ, وَالْحَاكِم ُ 1 .1 - حسن. رواه أبو داود (30)، والترمذي (7)، وابن ماجه (300)، والنسائي في "عمل اليوم والليلة" (79)، وأحمد (655)، وابن حبان (1444)، والحاكم (185)، من حديث عائشة رضي الله عنها .
When the Prophet (ﷺ) came out of the privy, he used to say, “Ghufranaka (O Allah! Grant me Your forgiveness)”. .
Ibn Mas’ud (rad)
dansBulugh al-Maramقَالَ: "هَذَا رِكْسٌ" } أَخْرَجَهُ اَلْبُخَارِيّ ُ 1 .1 - صحيح. رواه البخاري (156).
The Prophet (ﷺ) went out to answer the call of nature and asked me to bring three stones. I found two stones and searched for the third but could not find it. So I took a dried piece of dung and brought it to him. He took the two stones and threw away the dung and said, “This is a filthy thing”.
And in the version of Ahmad and Ad-Daraqutni it is added
dansBulugh al-Maramزَادَ أَحْمَدُ, وَاَلدَّارَقُطْنِيُّ: { ائْتِنِي بِغَيْرِهَا } 1 .1 - رواه أحمد (1 /450)، والدارقطني (1 /55) واللفظ للدارقطني، وأما لفظ أحمد، فهو: "ائتني بحجر". وهي زيادة صحيحة.
